Saint Mary of Plestias

The Basilica of St. Maria di Plestia is a church that still today preserves a crypt of the eleventh century; The Basilica is situated on the homonymous archaeological zone on the border between Umbria and Marche, dating from the period between the First and the Fourth Century AD. Although technically the area is part of the municipality of Serravalle di Chienti is practically adjacent to Colfiorito. The Basilica was at one time belonged to the cathedral and the Roman city of Plestia which was destroyed and rebuilt by Emperor Otto III in the year 1000. Basilica is devoted to Our Lady of the Assumption.

Colfiorito Park

The Colfiorito Park is situated on a plateau some 800 meters above sea level and is part of the territory of the town of Foligno. The area is of high value natural and archaeological and covers approximately 130 acres that comprise the Colfiorito marsh, a natural area with many species of plants and waterfowl to admire dall’apposito observatory for birds. Inside the park runs a network of hiking paths either on foot or by mountain bike.
